CosmosCalc (cosmoscalc.com) is a free science tool website providing calculators, trackers and educational content for physics, astronomy, aerospace and nuclear science. The site is operated by an individual based in Sri Lanka.

2. What Information We Collect

We collect no personally identifiable information directly. We do not have user accounts, registration forms, or any system that requires you to submit your name, address, or any other personal details to use the site.

The only optional data collection is:

• Email address — only if you voluntarily subscribe to our newsletter via the subscription form on the blog page. This is handled by Mailchimp (see Section 5).
• Analytics data — anonymised usage data collected via Google Analytics (see Section 4).

3. Cookies

CosmosCalc uses the following cookies:

• Google Analytics cookies — used to understand how visitors use the site (pages visited, time on page, device type, country). These cookies do not identify you personally.
• Google AdSense cookies — if ads are displayed on the site, Google may use cookies to show relevant advertisements based on your browsing history. You can opt out via Google Ad Settings.

We do not use any other tracking cookies. All calculator functions work entirely in your browser — no data from your calculations is sent to any server.

4. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use CosmosCalc. This service collects anonymised information such as:

• Pages visited and time spent on each page
• Country and approximate region (city-level location is not collected)
• Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)
• Browser and operating system
• How you arrived at the site (search engine, direct, referral)

This data is aggregated and anonymous — it cannot be used to identify you as an individual. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

5. Email Newsletter (Mailchimp)

If you choose to subscribe to our newsletter, your email address is stored by Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.), our email marketing provider. We use your email only to send science updates and new tool announcements. We will never sell, share or rent your email to third parties.

You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or by contacting us directly. Mailchimp's privacy policy is available at mailchimp.com/legal/privacy.

6. Google AdSense

CosmosCalc may display advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google uses cookies to show ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ad Settings or aboutads.info.

Google's use of advertising cookies is governed by their Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

7. Third-Party APIs

Some features of CosmosCalc use third-party data services:

• NASA APIs (api.nasa.gov) — used for the NASA Picture of the Day and Asteroid Tracker. No personal data is sent to NASA.
• Open-Notify.org — used for real-time ISS position data. No personal data is sent.

All calculations performed by our science calculators happen entirely in your browser. No calculation data, inputs or results are transmitted to any server.

8. Children's Privacy

CosmosCalc is a general-audience science education website. We do not knowingly collect any personal data from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through this site, please contact us so we can remove it.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your data (e.g. email newsletter unsubscription)
• Opt out of analytics and advertising cookies

Since CosmosCalc collects minimal data, most requests can be resolved simply by unsubscribing from the newsletter and clearing your browser cookies.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. When we do, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of CosmosCalc after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
